I'm New

How long are the services?

1 HR

Our worship services generally are about an hour. It includes hymns being sung, Bible scriptures being read, reading the Creeds from the Book of Common Prayer, and Communion or Morning Prayer. Certain holiday services are longer and they include other elements like our Baptismal Covenant.

What do people usually wear?

COME AS YOU ARE

Some people wear business casual, some people wear jeans, occasionally you will see a suit. The leaders will be wearing vestments. Dress for the weather, come as you are!

What to expect?

COME AND SEE

We gather for worship on Sunday mornings. The weekly worship service is either Morning Prayer or Holy Eucharist, also known as the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion. At Nativity, as at most Episcopal churches, worship is liturgical, meaning that the congregation follows service forms and prays from texts that don’t change greatly from week to week.  For first-time visitors, the liturgy may be exhilarating or confusing. Services may involve standing, sitting, kneeling, sung or spoken responses, and other participatory elements that may provide a challenge for the first-time visitor. However, we have service order cards in the pews and our worship leaders make an effort to guide worshipers with page references so that everyone can follow along.

What is our style of worship?

RITE 2

At Nativity we follow a traditional, liturgical worship, following Rite II and centering around Holy Eucharist.  Worship services usually have musical accompaniment, with singing, standing and sitting rituals.  We focus on God and community and offer a welcoming place for worship.
