Friends,

Of all the things I find most difficult, goodbyes are near the top of the list. Of course, when I spend time somewhere it is actually my hope that the goodbyes will be difficult because that means the relationships I’ve had were meaningful. And that is the case for me now.

It has been such a joy for me to be your Vicar. You have been a blessing to me and an inspiration through your commitment to the life of the church and your care for the community. You truly live into St. Francis's challenge that as Christians we should strive to preach the gospel as much as possible through our actions. I am a better priest and a better person for having been with you.

However, I write to let you know that I have accepted the call to be Rector of St. George’s Episcopal Church in Griffin, Georgia. In addition to having the opportunity to lead a healthy parish known for its outreach, part of my responsibilities will be spiritual oversight of St. George's Episcopal School in neighboring Milner. It really is an amazing opportunity in parish ministry while also allowing for some involvement in Episcopal education, which many of you know is very important to me.

My start date at St. George's will be Sunday, January 10, 2021. This will allow me to continue serving with you through Christmas Eve. In the meantime, I hope to have the chance to say goodbye to each of you in person. You are, and will always be, in my prayers.

Peace,

Kirk+
