Spotlight: Reverend Jennifer Holder

We are so fortunate to have Reverend Holder with us this weekend in Water Valley. She will be facilitating the Ladies’ Spiritual Retreat and will be celebrating the Eucharist on Sunday at 10:30.

Reverend Holder is a retired priest who makes her home in Hattiesburg. She attends Trinity Episcopal Church there and also serves as a supply priest around the Diocese of Mississippi. Jennifer moved to Mississippi from Texas in 2023 where she had been a deacon and a hospital chaplain in Dallas, then the priest for Canterbury House at Texas Tech University in Lubbock and rector of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church.

I am very excited to lead this retreat and to be with all of you on Sunday. This all evolved from chats with new friends, Margaret Love Denman and Kathy Shoalmire made at Cursillo 138 in April.

Nativity’s Church Directory, assembled and created by Jenni Campbell, is undergoing a few additions and revisions, and Robbie Fisher is offering once again to take photos for anyone who would their photo taken for the directory. Robbie will be set up in the Office at Salt & Light after church services conclude on October 12 and October 19. No need to reserve a spot, just drop in during coffee hour along with anyone else you wish to include in a family photo. You may also add your own photos to your profile in the directory and edit your profile.

To view and edit the Directory on-line, please visit our church website (nativitywv.org) and click on the “Directory” tab at the top right. There are directions there on how to log in and access the directory. For those who prefer a printed copy, we plan to print hard copies of the Directory and make them available after photos are added in October.

If you are not listed in the Directory and wish to be listed, cannot access the directory, or if you would like to reserve a printed copy of the Directory, please e-mail Robbie at robbiedfisher@gmail.com

From the Senior Warden, Mary Beth Pulsifer

Recognizing that children and young families represent the future of our church, The Mission Committee is seeking to develop a standing Youth Ministry Committee. This committee will be involved in both short and long-term planning and organizing around youth activities and programs, youth Christian Formation, and creation of child-friendly spaces. If you are interested in serving and/or chairing this committee, contact our Senior Warden, Mary Beth (mpulsifer23@gmail.com)

Shortly after the close of the third quarter (September 30), Treasurer Eddie Wood will be sending out emails to all who pledged to the church this year to advise on the status of 2025 pledge payments received to date. Look out for this email in early October.

Anyone interested in becoming licensed by the Bishop as a Lay Eucharistic Minister or Lay Eucharistic Visitor, please contact Robbie Fisher at robbiedfisher@gmail.com

Anyone interested in serving on the Finance Committee to assist with the development of the 2026 church budget, please contact Robbie Fisher. This committee will work primarily October through December.
