Good Morning, Nativity Family,
There is a chill in the air, but love is in our hearts. I trust your week is going well. Yesterday I ventured down to Water Valley and was so pleased to see our Blessing Box filled with good food. Thanks to Suzy and Debbie for managing the Box this month. And thanks, too, to the person who posted the Instagram photo on our Facebook Page.
PLEASE NOTE: There will not be a service at Nativity this week, nor will there be a Zoom service. Instead, I invite you to join in the worship of the Washington National Cathedral. You may access their worship on Sunday through their Facebook page, or here Online Church Services - Washington National Cathedral . The service begins at 10:15 Central Time. Enjoy!
As we move through these sometimes very confusing days, please know that it is our hope to soon gather together in person. That being said, we will need to be diligent in not spreading the Coronavirus. New guidelines will be forthcoming. We are all hungry to be gathered together. Please share your feelings with me about in person worship.
Beth, Robbie and I will be attending the Virtual Annual Diocesan Council this year. It will mostly take place on Saturday, January 29. We will post on Facebook, when it is received, a link for you to view if you desire. You may also check the Diocese’s website for information: 195th Annual Council Home | Annual Council (dioms.org) Please pray for us as we join in conducting the business of the Church.
On Sunday, February 13, we will have our Annual Parish Meeting. At this meeting, we will have an update on things at Nativity, share brief reports and elect at least one new person to our Mission Committee. If you are willing to serve, please let James McCormick know, or you can certainly contact me. It is my hope that we may indeed gather in person; however, if necessary, we will meet via Zoom. YOUR PRESENCE IS IMPORTANT.
Lent will arrive in March! Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 2. Please mark your calendar.
Lastly, I invite you to spend some time with the readings for this Sunday. They may be accessed here: Fourth Sunday after Epiphany (lectionarypage.net) . Paul’s writings on love are important; this passage from I Corinthians 13 can also serve as a good examination of conscience. Spend some time reflecting on this, and how amidst this changes and chances of this life, we love our neighbor!
May your week be filled with the goodness of the Lord.
Faithfully,
Ann +
Vicar
