Reflections

In a little over a week I’ll have a taste of my first Watermelon Carnival, and I’m pretty pumped! I will be making all the rounds. But, I’ve also signed up to work some at Nativity’s “refreshment and renewal” station in front of the church, and I hope you’ll offer an hour of your time to do the same. A sign up sheet is in the rear of the Church, or you can contact James McCormick.

A week later ( August 13) St. Peter’s in Oxford will be hosting a convocation-wide Altar Guild gathering. Yeah, I know the Altar Guild at Nativity is prettying small, (even after a 50% increase in recent weeks!) but this gathering may pique your interest. Flyers will be available at the church on Sunday with details.

Speaking of flyers, I have updated the Visitor Cards in the pews to make them a bit more accessible. I have also ordered the first set of personal business cards that I have had in seven years, so I’m ready to go! Please feel free to introduce me to your friends, family, enemies, et al at the Watermelon Carnival. I promise not to give them a card unless they ask. I hope to be “quietly” visible in the community going forward, but you can be helpful.

Lastly, I am working on being in touch with each of you over the course of the next several months for a one on one conversation to get to know you. But don’t wait for me to call. Drop me a note or give me a call, and we can work out a time to visit. For those working in Oxford, days other than Wednesday are available for lunch. Looking forward to getting to know all of you much better and understanding all that makes this such a special place!

See you Sunday!

Peace,

Duncan
