Sunday News & Newsletter

Psalm 118:24 This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Dear Nativity Family, It’s November! It is the month in which we celebrate Thanksgiving and many thanksgivings! What joy it was to be gathered together last Sunday for our special All Hallow’s Eve service. Thanks to all who attended and thank you for the wonderful meal. Beginning this Sunday, we begin our Stewardship season. Our theme is Gratitude--Generosity--Gift. You will be hearing from some of our Nativity leaders this month as we move through the season of thanksgiving. Later this month, you will receive a pledge card via mail and I am asking for these to be returned on Sunday, November 28 at our 10:30 service. Please watch your mailbox! Please don’t forget to set your clocks back on Saturday evening! We return to Central Standard Time. This little quip always helps me: Spring forward; Fall Back! November 28 is also the beginning of Advent. We will be using Eucharist Year C in our liturgy. On December 5, Advent Lessons and Carols will be presented at our main service along with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist. I am grateful to Brenda Prager for her guidance and leadership in planning this service. I will be meeting with the Rev. Reed McCaleb on Thursday, November 4 for a planning session. Reed and I would like to offer what is sometimes known as a Blue Christmas service. It’s NOT about Elvis! There are those among us who have a difficult time with holidays; this service is planned to acknowledge their pain. More to come! Please remember our Blessing Box during this month of thanksgiving! A few donations a month add up to a lot when we all pitch in together! Thanks to everyone who so lovingly gives. It is with deep gratitude that I am one among you! November is a time for giving thanks and it is also Native American Heritage Month. Let us give thanks for the many contributions of all Indigenous people. “May the stars carry your sadness away, May the flowers fill your heart with beauty, May hope forever wipe away your tears, and, above all, may silence make you strong.” —Chief Dan George Faithfully, Ann + Vicar
