Banner Ideas Needed & Our Newsletter

First, a note from our Senior Warden, James McCormick before Vicar Ann's Message! ----

Church Banner Ideas Needed: Our little church needs a big banner. We need a Church of the Nativity banner to carry in the procession at Annual Council. Our banner should represent the loving, fun, and nurturing spirit of our community. Annual Council is at the end of January. That gives us plenty of time to brainstorm a design and then create a beautiful banner. Right now, we need creative input to help envision the banner design. Then, we will need sewing skills to bring the design to life. Our banner will also need a carrying pole and a stand to hold the pole. Plenty of opportunities for participation. To begin this effort, we need lots of ideas that symbolize who we are and what we do. Please think about words and images to describe our vibrant church community. Please share your ‘words and images’ ideas with James McCormick via phone call, text, or email. Please offer your ideas before Sunday 11/21. All ideas are appreciated and welcome: 662 312-6625 R200james@gmail.com ---------------- Proverbs: 11:25 A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

Dear Nativity Family,

November is Native American Heritage Month. During this month, I have been reading much about the Indigenous Peoples in the U.S. I am grateful to the Choctaw Code Talkers and their gift of generosity of spirit in keeping us free. Their story is inspiring.

We continue with our Stewardship theme of Gratitude--Generosity--Gift. This Sunday, we will focus on Generosity. In their book A Native Way of Giving, authors Forrest S. Cuch (Ute) and Michael Carney (a priest in Utah on the Ute reservation) give both the Native American perspective and the Biblical perspective of generosity. Feasting is an important part of generosity; it’s what we share in the Eucharist. Each Sunday as I travel to the Church of the Nativity, I find myself reflecting on the generosity that abounds! The Blessing Box speaks to the people of Water Valley, and so many of you have generously given and continue to give! Thank you.

Next week a pledge card will be mailed to you. I ask that you pray, reflect, meditate on God’s word and consider your pledge to the Church of the Nativity. While the pandemic may have caused many changes in our midst, the love, compassion and generosity continues. Please consider your gift for the coming year. Pledge cards should be returned on November 28, when we explore Gift and embrace the generosity that abounds at Advent.

Blessings,

Ann +

Vicar
