NEW GREEN ALTAR HANGINGS:
THANK YOU Liz and Tommy Reynolds for the beautiful green altar hangings which they gave to Nativity in honor of their children Rebecca, Upton, and Daniel. Liz has been a faithful member of the Altar Guild for a few years.
She said, "the 'green season' or ordinary time as it is known, is the most common season in the liturgical calendar. Every time we switched the colors from the beautiful rich purple or red or the beautiful white hangings to the green hangings, I would cringe. The old ones were drab and didn't match. I mentioned to Kathy Gray several months before Duncan retired that we needed new ones. I told her that I thought it was something that Tommy and I could do for the church. "
She talked with Tricia Copelin who has made altar hangings for years throughout the diocese, including the others we have at Nativity. "Tricia does beautiful handwork and agreed to make new green ones for us. I couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out. They seem to make the beautiful stained glass windows stand out. We are very honored to be able to do this for the glory of God and in thanksgiving for our children."
A few things for you to notice the next time you are in church: On the center of the altar hanging is a cross with a grapevine (and grapes) and a twig of wheat. Several of the emblems used were once on the hangings at All Saints in Grenada. When a church gets new hangings, they offer the appliques to other churches along with the entire hangings in case they are better than what that church has. If no one needs them, then the hangings are burned. They have been blessed; therefore, they cannot be put in the trash. The Reverend Ann Whitaker blessed the new hangings on Sunday, September 28.

Robbie will be set up in the Office at Salt & Light after church services conclude on October 12 and October 19. No need to reserve a spot, just drop in during coffee hour along with anyone else you wish to include in a family photo. You may also add your own photos to your profile in the directory and edit your profile.
To view and edit the Directory on-line, please visit our church website (nativitywv.org) and click on the “Directory” tab at the top right. There are directions there on how to log in and access the directory. For those who prefer a printed copy, we plan to print hard copies of the Directory and make them available after photos are added in October.

Church Family Survey for additional fellowship opportunities. At the request of the Mission Committee, Shannon Adams created a survey regarding opportunities for us to spend more time together as a church family. Please complete the survey - one per household and let us know what you might be interested in. The survey can be accessed at Fellowship Survey
From the Senior Warden - Mary Beth Pulsifer:
The Mission Committee is pleased to announce the creation of a Youth Ministries fund to implement a number of priorities in which Nativity serves our children and teens in worship and fellowship opportunities. This fund will help to provide formation (Sunday School) opportunities, activities for youth and development of child-friendly spaces.
As the first product of this fund, through a seed gift from the Lagniappe Foundation, Nativity is establishing a scholarship program for all children and teens "known" to Nativity ("official" family members of Nativity or an established personal connection to Nativity) to attend the diocesan summer camp. Camp Bratton Green, and Diocesan Division of Youth events and Happenings.
Parents are responsible for registering their children and for the initial registration fees for Camp Bratton Green. Nativity will pay the entire fee for the Camp experience or youth event directly to the diocese.
Camp registration may be found at this link: https://graycenter.org/camp-bratton-green/
Division of Youth opportunities may be found here: https://sites.google.com/dioms.org/diomsyouth/home
Camp Registration has already opened for the Summer of 2028 so we encourage anyone interested in this program to visit the website and look into registration now, as camp registration may fill up soon.
For additional details speak to the Snr. Warden, Mary Beth Pulsifer. 540-285-0480 or mpulsifer23@gmail.com.
If you would like to contribute to the Youth Ministries Fund, please designate that on your check or payment made out to the Church of the Nativity.
