Hello and we hope everyone’s doing well on this fine Wednesday. We’re coming out of the gate with high praise from all of our participants in the first lay Sunday Morning Prayer Zoom service we had a few days ago. It was quite inspiring! Thanks to Debby Patterson, Shannon Adams, Hannah McCormick (special guest appearance by her daughter, Noa Caroline), James McCormick, Joe York, Emma York, and Tom Kirkpatrick for being readers. It was great to have so many involved and we know Fr. Kirk would be proud of us.

We also had Kathryn York speak during the ‘homily/sermon’ portion of the service about our period of discernment. “Period of discernment?,” you ask? Nativity has been searching for a way to be a source of support for black, indigenous and other people of color in our community. One of the most important takeaways from her speech was the idea that we as a church need to “look inward” so that we aren’t placing any burdens on others as we make efforts to “work on shared values and beliefs, rather than on our own ideas on how things in our community ‘should be’.” Thank you Kathryn. You have been helpful in giving us some thoughts to ponder for these next couple of months. If anyone would like some more details on what was talked about, Kathryn has provided a written summary of her thoughts right here

Stay tuned for another lay Sunday Morning Prayer @ 9 a.m.this coming weekend. If you would like be a reader, we will do whatever we can to make that happen. Just send us an email or talk to a friend that can pass it along. We want this to be a village effort. Christ’s peace be with you all...
