Sunday Resources

Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Mark 9:50b

Dear Nativity Family, Autumn is here! What glorious weather! I hope you will enjoy this change of season. We will gather this Sunday, September 26 for in person worship at 10:30 a.m. Masks are still required. This Sunday service will include a Baptism. In addition, we will be taking up a second offering for Episcopal Relief and Development and their work post Hurricane Ida. The Church of the Nativity will sponsor a Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, October 9, at 10:00 a.m. in the Pocket Park near the BTC. The Feast of St. Francis is on October 4, and it is tradition to hold a blessing for animals near this important feast day. It will be open to the public; animals will need to be under the guardianship of their owner: dogs on leashes, cats in carriers or leashes, all other animals safely secured by their owner. In case of inclement weather, we will reschedule. In the upcoming Gospel for this Sunday, Jesus tells us to have salt in ourselves and to be at peace with one another. As you reflect on these words, I ask you to consider "salt" in your own life. I once heard a pastor say that salt can be classified as a spice. He said we are to be "spicy!" What does being "spicy" mean for your own life? For our communal life? October is a month with five Sundays. The last Sunday of the month is October 31. We are most familiar with Halloween. It is also known in the church as All Hallow's Eve or the day before All Saints' Day. Stay tuned for details about our Fifth Sunday! May your days be filled with peace and joy!
