What’s Happening in the New Year?

Good day, friends! We hope everyone has had a nice Christmas and are looking forward to the New Year. Given our current circumstances, we hope you all made due with a less than ideal holiday season. But Christ was born through a less than ideal situation himself, so maybe there’s comfort to draw from that.

We thank all of those who joined us for our Christmas Eve Zoom service. It was nice to see friends and say goodbye to Fr. Kirk. While I’m on the subject, if you did not get to say your proper goodbye to Kirk, St. Peter’s is hosting a ‘goodbye’ Zoom gathering next week. We will post the Zoom link in next week’s newsletter for all those who are interested.

Now what can we say about future services for Nativity? We have an answer for that. Rev. Ann Whitaker and Rev. Sylvia Czarnetsky will be our supply priests for the following months. We are humbled and thankful to have them aboard! As far as services go, Ann will be conducting Zoom services on the first and third Sunday of the month, while Sylvia will be helping us every second Sunday. And for every fourth Sunday, we will have a lay Sunday Morning Prayer service. So let us lay it out again for you:

1st Sunday- Rev. Ann Whitaker

2nd Sunday- Rev. Sylvia Czarnetsky

3rd Sunday- Ann again :)

4th Sunday- lay Sunday Morning Prayer

Many of you will be familiar with Ann Whitaker. She served St. Peter’s congregation for many years and is beloved by many. Sylvia Czarnetsky has been a supply priest for many ‘in limbo’ churches in the Delta/North Mississippi region. We look forward to getting to know her. We thank you both, Ann and Sylvia, for helping Nativity out during this transitional period!

Nativity’s Sunday Morning Prayer service will continue on Zoom this coming weekend @ 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 3rd. Stay tuned for more details in the Sunday resources post later this week. As always, we hope you will join us!

Bible Slam is rocking it’s way through the winter. If you would like to come and read, the doors are open from 8:30ish a.m. to sundown. Help us get through Psalms!

Vestry Nomination Update

Number of Nominees Needed: 2

Number of Current Nominees: 2

We are looking for at least two Vestry nominees for 2021 (the more the merrier). The term is for three years and the Vestry meets once every two months. Of course, we also require that you have a strong love for the Church of the Nativity. We hope to announce our new Vestry members by the end of January. Please contact us if you’re interested.

We’re done. Sorry for the hefty newsletter! It just happens sometimes. We pray you have a great rest of your week and fill it with faith, hope and love. Christ’s peace...

-Sean
